The Daicon Bunny is the bunny-girl all other anime bunny-girls spring from. That's what we call homage, boys and girls.
Don't get me wrong, I like it. I threw it together on a whim. Toshi asked me if I'd ever considered doing it. The final reason I did it was petty, but I'll tell you anyway. There used to be this damned pesky little girl who wore a pink bunny-girl costume to AWA. Now this little girl was 14 and made a couple of inappropriate comments about my weight and shape. So I figured the Bunny Girl could damn well use the opportunity to see a Bunny Woman in action. So when AWA '97 rolled around I was full and in effect.
Notes:It's probably my most popular costume, and aside from the fact it looks good, it doesn't deserve the hype. I purchased most of it. Not all at one place mind you, but still, very little sewing and craft was involved (I made the collar, wrist things, and ears).
Back Ground:The Daicon Bunny-girl was featured prominantly in the Daicon Videos created in the 80's by a group of fans for the Daicon anime conventions in Japan. They are a series of shorts that were used as the conventions' opening animation. The shorts were very well done, though the 'plots' were somewhat confusing ( Why is she drinking Milk? Will she kick Darth Vader's ass? Was that the Yamato?). The group of fans/creators eventually became professionals and formed their own anime studio: Gainax.
Costume Highlights: At Nekocon Ichi (98) I wore the costume while MC'ing the cos-play. Due to a skit during judging time that I was in I kept an ID holder in my cleavage for the duration of the cos-play. I also pulled a compact and lipstick out of my cleavage on stage at Katsucon 98.It's all about class.
