Gaimmienne's Stats

Gaimmienne's class, "Free Lancer", is a custom design. The advantages and disadvantages of that class are listed below. Her intelligence was her first attribute to hit 100, followed by her wisdom - both important attributes for spell-casting. Because of her class, she won't be able to advance too many more levels, so her other attributes won't go up very much. But that's OK, she has magic items which she uses in combat which fortify most of her other attributes. Her fortified strength combined with an item enchanted with "increased weight allowance 50%" lets her carry lots of treasure back from her adventures (and of course having a wagon doesn't hurt).

Gaimmienne's Skills

Primary Skills

Gaimmienne does not have much trouble improving her destruction and restoration skills, she just has to use spells from those two schools of magicka. Her dodging skill has given her some trouble, but she thinks that she's figured out how to take care of that: She just needs to spend more time with the lesser creatures. When she runs into a giant bat or rat, instead of killing it with a single stab she can just stand in front of it and taunt it, perhaps even punching and kicking it to practice her hand-to-hand. When the bat or rat tries to attack she gets to practice her dodging skill without very serious consequences if they get in a lucky hit or two. All three of these skills are important for Gaimmienne's advancement, so dodging is going to have to do a bit of catching up.

Major Skills

Practicing stealth is slow work, but perhaps not as painful as practicing archery. Who designed this silly class anyway? :-) Archery doesn't get practiced very often because the wakazashi or a damage or disintegrate spell is usually the most expedient way to get rid of one's enemies. The highest two of these skills is used to determine Gaimmienne's advancement, so either she has to spend more time practicing walking slowly and quietly, or she's going to have to use one of the daedric bows she has managed to obtain.

Minor Skills

Her minor skills are no problem what-so-ever. She only needs one of them to be high, and alteration is easy to practice. She's also working on her thaumaturgy (alteration and thaumaturgy are both schools of magicka).

Miscellaneous Skills

None of the miscellaneous skills need to be high in order to advance levels, but there are several that Gaimmienne is trying to improve. Dragonish is useful for those Knights of the Dragon quests. Long blade is useful for gaining rank at that knightly order (but don't ask me how she manages to train in long blade when her class does not even allow her to equip one - I guess she just listens to and watches her trainer very carefully). Mysticism is useful for a number of spells, the most important of which (at least for the time being) is soul trap. Silence (which can prevent others from being able to cast spells) may also prove to be useful if Gaimmienne has to go up against some truly powerful wizards. And of course Illision is necessary for that true invisiblity spell, which can be so useful for sneaking around and backstabbing.

Advantages and Disadvantages of the Class: Free Lancer

Spell Absorption is a very powerful advantage. When Gaimmienne goes up against a lich or an ancient vampire she usually casts a powerful shield spell, which drains a good portion of her magicka. But as soon as the meanie attacks (with magicka of course) it gets absorbed, and quite often totally replenishes Gaimmienne's spell reserves. In fact, she is so powerful and so good at this that when she attacks a Daedra Lord she has to be sure to stand back a ways. Their first attacks are very powerful magicka attacks, and if she gets too close to them right away, their own spells blow up in their faces and kill them - which prevents her from absorbing 2nd and 3rd spells, and also prevents her from getting a soul trap spell on them before they die.

Atheleticism is worthless, but heck, when I created this class I thought she'd spend a lot of time running away from creatures, not hunting Daedra Seducers like they were dodo birds. Increased magery is another must-have. I'm not sure how much the two weapons expertise help. The rest, of course, are major disadvantages.
