Additional mountain biking trails will not appear without the grassroots efforts of organized groups that speak with a collective voice to the DNR and other state groups. In Wisconsin, this includes IMBA, RIDE, and WORBA. The Wisconsin DNR and other state organizations listen to these groups. The Sierra Club, The Audubon Society, Ducks Unlimited, and other outdoor groups succeed with the government because they speak for many members (i.e., voters), they promote good environmental stewardship, demonstrate economic impact, and act collectively. These issues must become the focus of WORBA, RIDE, and IMBA in order for us to be successful.

To make yourself heard - to amplify your voice - join a mountain bike group. Your participation is an investment in the future of mountain biking in Wisconsin. Also consider what kind of talent you can donate, whether it is legal skills, licking stamps, writing or elbow grease. Trail work is undeniably a part of what mountain biking is all about.
