the Furbanks (Tomy version)

The Furbanks are one of my very favorite SF families, especially Greta and the babies. The babies were a Christmas present from my parents. Actually, the whole family is a gift from my parents - I got the father, mother, brother, and sister for getting braces for my teeth (fun fun fun). The US, UK, and Japan have all released their own versions of this popular family. The differences include the Japanese family having darker/thinner stripes and the American Calico Critter family having a twin set rather than bending babies.

The children's names are all very clever, based on the Furbanks family's "acting" aspirations. Greta comes from the 1920s film star/pin-up Greta Garbo, and Douglas Furbanks comes from Douglas Fairbanks - the star who married Mary Pickford. The babies' names, Fay and Ray, come from Fay Wray, the actress from Hong Kong (the one who was always screaming and fainting)
