Gail has been painting since she was a young child. Her father brought home a canvas and some oil paints which someone was throwing away when she was about 10 years old and it started her on a life-long journey into painting. She had wonderful art teachers throughout her childhood and teen years.
While Gail studied secretarial skills throughout high school, she also studied painting and commercial art. When she got into the working world, she missed the daily artistic challenges and started taking night classes at the local technical schools and high schools. She took watercolor and acrylic painting classes two nights a week for several years. After that she took woodworking classes. She stopped painting for about 10 years, working on her government career. She started painting again one day and she was hooked for good. While Gail has painted on and off her entire life, about five years ago friends urged her to start selling her work.
She built up a body of work by attending night classes for two years at The Milwaukee Institute Of Art And Design and attended several seminars on the business of selling art. She has done consignment work including portraits, specialized lampshades, personalized holiday ornaments and landscapes. She is a Member of Wisconsin Painters and Sculpters. She has worked in a co-op gallery and she enters many juried art fairs throughout Wisconsin. She has sold lampshades to specialty shops and lighting stores.
