Some of my favorite subjects are painting pictures of glass objects to show the refraction and distortion of objects behind each bottle or glass. I never tire of painting lake or water scenes. Many of my still life paintings include fishing lures. I appreciate the wild beauty of northern Wisconsin and love fishing and snowmobiling. Painting still life subjects which include glass objects is always challenging and brings a refracted reality which draws the eye deep into a painting. My love for cooking inspires many paintings of cooking or canning utensils as well as colorful vegetables and fruits.
Children will sometimes walk up to my paintings and touch them because they are trying to "pick off" a fish hook or lure. Both men and women seem to enjoy my work because of the indoor and outdoor subject matter. The lampshades I paint because I wanted to be able to have the skies actually glow in my paintings. This is a way to accomplish this. When lit, they glow causing the trees to silhouette against an illuminated sky.
I simply love painting and enjoy watching people get into my work.
