Truk Lagoon has become a mecca for shipwreck divers. Truk was the site of Operation Hailstorm during World War II, during which the United States Navy destroyed the Japanese merchant fleet as well as some of their warships during raids lasting two days. Today, the wrecks are covered in coral growth, and home to hundreds of species of fish.
