Pictures
The pictures that follow are very recent pictures. Probably for a little while, things will not necessarily proceed from newest to oldest until we get caught up.
Contents: Ikea™ (2 pictures), pink rabbit (2), skating. tiger, motorcycle (2), Raintree (5), Ottawa park (3).
Malina at Ikea™, trying out some of the furniture.
Malina helping assemble a new chair that she and Mom picked up at Ikea™ near Chicago, IL.
Malina posing for a picture (we forget why).
Malina being a rabbit, complete with ears.
Malina and her friend Ali outside the Eble ice rink. This was before Malina got her own set of skates. The Naga-Waukee ice rink is another nearby favorite. These are part of the Waukesha County Park System
Malina, the fierce tiger.
Trying out the motorcycle in the garage. Her legs are not yet long enough, but she enjoyed climbing up and down. She was very careful of the hot parts.
After coming home one rare day that Dad took his motorcycle, Malina wanted to climb up and try on his helmet. While it looks like it fits pretty good (which would mean that Dad has a really small head, or Malina has a really big head, or both), it is mostly resting on her shoulders. The tips of her toes barely touch the pegs (front or rear). It will be a good while before she is riding with Dad or Mom, much less riding her own motorcycle, but she looked to be having fun here. Dad would never encourage her or anyone else to ride, but it is something he enjoys every once in a while when he gets the chance. For her, the motorcycle is just something that takes up space in the garage. That's fine with Dad.
The Raintree Resort in the Wisconsin Dells was a two day adventure on our way to a homeschooling conference at UW-Steven's Point put on by the Wisconsin Parents Association. Malina put the stay and the time spent in the indoor water park firmly in the "super fun" category.
The Raintree Resort indoor water park area included a lot of falling, spraying, and dumping water. Mom and Dad enjoyed going down these water slides several times each. Malina spent a little time in the shallower areas, but liked the deep part better, for some reason.
Malina spent much of her time in the deep end of the pool, jumping from the steps into Dad's arms, and then "swimming" around back to the steps.

Malina found a new friend at the water park. While there were many parts of the park that were very hard (floors, sides, steps, walls, railings, etc.), the smaller slides, floats, landing pads, and figures, such as our elephant friend here, were made of a durable vinyl-covered foam material that offered some padding, and felt really strange to the touch.
A nice spring afternoon at a campground in the Kettle Moraine Forest at Ottawa. We had lunch with Grammy and Grandpa Ramstack, and then went to a nearby open field to fly two kites borrowed from camping neighbors.
Malina was expertly flying her kite. So well, in fact, that she didn't even have to look at it. The other kite, under the "control" of the adults at the time, went into a tree. Malina ended up being offered the kite that was not permanently stuck in the tree, and took it home. After some modifications (a very long and heavy tail, etc.), it flies pretty well now in stronger winds. Dad has had more fun with it since this day.
Grandpa Ramstack can't even get a day off when he's at the campground with family. Here he's providing some additional muscle and sharing his expertise as he and Malina work the mechanical scoop-shovel at the park.
