In loving memory of their son Jason, his parents, Joe and Karen and his sister, Gina have created a scholarship program for the sons and daughters of Milwaukee Police Officers.

 

Who is Eligible for JMPSF?

Any child of a Milwaukee Police Officer is eligible to apply for scholarship funds. Applications can be obtained at the Milwaukee Police Association, 1840 North Farwell Avenue Suite 400, Milwaukee, WI. The applicant must be a graduating high school senior in 2000 or Spring of 2001 or be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university. Scholarship funds cannot be applied retroactively to semesters already completed.

How do Students Apply?

The Student must fill out the application in its entirety and drop off the completed application no later than November 1, 2000 at the Milwaukee Police Association, 1840 North Farwell Avenue Suite 400 between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

How Many Scholarships will be Awarded?

At a minimum, 4 scholarships will be awarded in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00 per scholarship. The actual amount not greater than $10,000.00 will be determined based on need identified through the application process.

How Is The Scholarship Paid?

All Scholarship awards will be paid to the student by December 31, 2000 for the academic year 2001. All donations (100%) made to the JMPSF will be awarded in the form of scholarships as stated above. Donations are tax deductible and can be mailed to the Milwaukee Police Association at 1840 North Farwell Ave. #400, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

Who Selects the Scholarship Winners?

A Screening Committee has been selected by the Police Officer Defense Fund, Inc., with the final selection to be made by Joseph, Karen and Gina Monreal.

What About the Raffle to Build the Fund?.

To assist the PODF, Braeger Chevrolet at 4100 South 27th Street has donated a 2001 Chrysler "PT Cruiser," a large screen TV with a DVD Player and Midwest Express Airlines donated 2 Round Trip Tickets. The 3 donated gifts are currently being raffled at $5.00 per ticket or 5 for $20.00. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Milwaukee Police Association 1840 North Farwell Avenue Suite 400, Milwaukee, WI 53202. The raffle winners will be drawn on Tuesday, December 12th, 2000, 12:30 PM at Serb Hall 5101 West Oklahoma Avenue at the MPA Christmas Party.
