Frederick Dake's birth date is placed about 1826 from census data and on March 13, 1826 by family records. He has listed his birthplace as Highland Co., Ohio(1850, 1860 & 1870) in the census records and this is noted in his obituary. The 1830 Indiana Census did not list individuals, just enumerations. Angeline is buried in the Dake Cemetery in Shelby Co., IN. 1850 Dake Genealogy: The 1850 Indiana Census for Marion County, Franklin Township, Indiana lists Frederick Dake as 24 years of age married to Caroline (Robinson) age 18 with no children. They had a daughter, Angeline, born in 1849 but she only lived a few days. They also had a daughter, Mary, believed to have been born in 1950 who died in infancy. Mary is beleived to be buried in the Dake Cemetery in Shelby Co., IN. but her grave marker is missing. 1851 Dake Genealogy: A son, Marcus, is born to Frederick and Caroline (Robinson) Dake in 1851 but dies on August 31, 1851. Marcus is buried in the Dake cemetery in Shelby Co., IN. 1853 Dake Genealogy: A daughter, Margaret, is born to Frederick and Caroline (Robinson) Dake in 1853. She later becomes Mrs. Pearce and was living in Milan, IN at the time of her father's death. (Frederick's obituary). She is burried in Cashmere, WA. 1855 Dake Genealogy: A son, John, is born to Frederick and Caroline (Robinson) Dake in 1855. 1856 Dake Genealogy: A daughter, Laura Ann, is born to Frederick and Caroline (Robinson) Dake on December 24, 1856. 1858 Dake Genealogy: A son, George W., is born to Frederick and Caroline (Robinson) Dake about October 31, 1858 but dies less than a year later. 1859 Dake Genealogy: George W. Dake, son of Frederick and Caroline (Robinson) Dake dies August 31, 1859 and is buried in the Dake Cemetery in Shelby Co., IN. 1859 Dake Genealogy: A son, Oliver A., is born to Frederick and Caroline (Robinson) Dake about 1859 or early 1860. 1860 Dake Genealogy: 1860 census shows Frederick Dake age 34 living in Johnson County, Clark Township, Indiana with wife Caroline age 28, and children: Margaret age 7, John age 5, Laura A. age 3, and Oliver A. age 4 months. 1862 Dake Genealogy: A daughter, Martha, is born to Frederick and Caroline (Robinson) Dake in April 1862 but dies and is buried in Fort Collins, CO. according to family records. Note: This is a mystery as they were believed to be living in Indiana during this period. However, Martha's grave was NOT found in the Dake Cemetery in Shelby Co., IN. 1863 Dake Genealogy: A daughter, Jeretta, is born to Frederick and Caroline (Robinson) Dake on August 06, 1863. 1866 Dake Genealogy: A son, Ulysses Grant, is born to Frederick and Caroline (Robinson) Dake on June 17, 1866. 1867 Dake Genealogy: A son, Charles, is born to Frederick and Caroline (Robinson) Dake in 1867. 1870 Dake Genealogy: The 1870 Indiana Census for Johnson County, Clark Township, Indiana lists Frederick Dake age 44 with wife Caroline age 38 and children: Margaret age 17, John age 15, and Louisa age 13. Note that daughter, Jeretta is missing from this census. She would have been 7 years old. Note that son, Ulysses Grant is missing from this census. He would have been 4 years old. Note that son, Charles, is missing from this census. He would have been 3 years old. 1871 Dake Genealogy: On May 4, 1871 John Jackson Dake and his wife bought land in the town of Fyan (Later to become Mountain Grove, Missouri) from Thomas and Mary Paul for a sum of $1200.00 part of which was later sold to Dr. Lane on Oct 4, 1882. The town was renamed Mountain Grove in 1891. Pearl later married Edward Walter Cox who was killed in a saw mill accident. Pearl then remaried Oscar Morton Brewster. Peterson Prophet for $200.00 on July 31, 1886 (Twp 28 Rng 12 Sec 7) 1881-1887 Dake Genealogy: John Jackson Dake conveyed a tract of land to his son Joseph Gardner Dake who sold a portion north of the railroad tracks to Dr. I. R. Lane. Lane laid out the town square and some streets north to what is now 5th street. On January 5, 1883 James Archer, a miller of Hartville, bought land from Joseph Gardner Dake north of Lane's property and established a mill soon thereafter. The line of what became 5th street separated the two properties. Each of the two men either sold or gave one block of land between 4th and 6th street and North Main and Green street for the campus of a new academy (Present school grounds).
