Responsibilities of
Merton Gifted and Talented Advocates

In collaboration with the District Coordinator for the gifted and talented students, the Gifted and Talented Advocates in each school assist with the following tasks:
Identification procedures and
record keeping
Review strengths list
Survey teachers for those students who are performing well
Survey teachers for those students who SHOULD be performing well
Collect cumulative file information on referred students
Submit additional information for strengths list such as test information, parent inquiries and opportunities
Classroom differentiation arrangements
Survey teachers for differentiation strategies being used
Arrange help from District Coordinator
Report on monthly grade level reports for ICT or PCT
Overseeing one or two co-curricular student programs
Be part of the process to register, communicate, escort, etc.
Keeping current with best practices
Attend at least one workshop/conference
Read suggested material
Guidance needs of students
Refer students with issues related to strengths
Parent and staff communication
Be part of the process to
promote good understanding and communication practices in the school community
