One way the Dane County Democratic Party addresses issues is by drafting and adopting resolutions that frame and convey our values.

"Local Issue" resolutions, for Dane County use only, have no word limit; "State Issue" resolutions, competing to advance to Congressional District and State Party conventions, have a 100 word limit, not including the title.

Besides stating the DCDP's position on relevant issues, resolutions may call for specific actions, such as lobbying for or against a given bill or candidate, sending out media releasses, or whatever the membership so directs.

Before drafting a resolution, refer to the latest Democratic Party of Wisconsin Platform to make sure the issue has not already been addressed.

Resolutions designed to impact the Democratic Party of Wisconsin Platform, which is renewed every 2 years, after being adopted at the County level, must compete and be adopted at the spring 2nd CD and summer DPW conventions.

Any paid member of the DCDP is invited to join the Resolutions Committee.

12/31/07: We are just 3-4 months away from the 2008 2nd CD convention.

Time is short to draft and adopt "State Issue" resolutions -- those intended to be voted on by DPW Convention delegates and which frame a future DPW Platform.

Please take advantage of this golden opportunity to have your say in what your Party stands for.

There is a new sunset rule that requires state Dems to continually update and restate our positions on the gamut of vital issues.

At the 2008 DPW Convention, a new Platform will be adopted.

Resolutions drafted now and adopted at 2008 conventions will be used to frame the 2010 edition.

Convention-bound resolutions have a 100 word limit, not including the title.

Please consider picking one or two issues you care about most and exercise your wordsmithing skills.
