Dear friend,
The war against the people of Iraq has not ended and may be about to enter a terrible new chapter. A huge military force has been assembled in the Persian Gulf for what may be a devastating bombing war that is likely to kill thousands of people.
We are writing you at this critical time to urge you to join us in a number of important nationally-coordinated anti-war protest actions. The International Action Center has initiated a broad National Emergency Coalition to Stop the War Against Iraq. Hundreds of organizations and prominent individuals are uniting to take action right now.
As in the past, it will be the volunteer efforts and generous financial contributions of people of conscience that can arouse an anti-war effort necessary to challenge the madness of a new Pentagon adventure.
Nationally coordinated demonstrations have been called for February 17-24. In addition, a mass march is scheduled in New York City for February 28. The demands of these activities are simple and to the point: No New Bombing of Iraq and Lift the Sanctions Now!
If you live in the New York City area, please join us at a Volunteers and Mobilizers meeting at 6:30 PM on Thursday February 19. We are doing mailings, phone banking, mass leafleting and postering and an active media campaign. If you have any time please stop by our office and give a helping hand. We are located at 39 W. 14th St., suite 206, and we are open almost around the clock.
Can you make a financial contribution to help defray the expenses of this emergency mobilization. Our volunteer staff is highly devoted but we must be able to raise the funds necessary to make this an effective mass movement. You can make a tax deductible donation of $50 or more to the People's Rights Fund/No War. Please make a contribution to help this movement grow.
