Petitions for 9/11

For the Nation which remembers not only the Alamo, Pearl Harbor, the Holocaust, but now also September 11 which reveals to us the true face of the enemy who pursues us.  In peace, let us pray....

For the Nation now in the throes of World War III because there’s simply not even room on this planet for Islamist fundamentalists and Western unbelievers. For the Nation now faced with the dilemma of bombing away the atomic capabilities of Iran or seeking a better path to peace. In peace, let us pray....

For those many thousands of people who lost loved ones in the inferno of 9/11, and whose tears never dry up and whose pain never goes away. In peace, let us pray....

In thanksgiving for the miraculously unselfish life and self-offering death of Fr. Mychal. In thanksgiving for this patron saint of all those who consider themselves sinners. In peace, let us pray...

In thanksgiving for all the other saints of 9/11. In thanksgiving for  the 343 other firefighters who died that day. In thanksgiving for all the searchers and diggers and movers of mountains who spent  ten months working day and night to haul away 2,000,000 tons of debris containing 20,000 body parts, and who now suffer because of their ordeal. In peace, let us pray….

In thanksgiving for the fruits of fall harvest. That we might have a sense of gratitude for this land of plenty. That we might regain a sense of simplicity which is grateful for the basics of life, like food enough to eat, a clean bed to sleep in  and a warm shelter to live in through the long winter months. In peace, let us pray....

For all the war dead. For our own beloved dead, especially those who have recently fallen asleep in the Lord.  In peace, let us pray....
