A Preface for Spring

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We have them lifted up unto the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give you thanks and praise.

Father, all-powerful and ever-living God,

we thank you for all times and season,

and now for Spring:

We thank you for all times and seasons

and now for Spring:

For the ”cooing of the turtle dove

heard again in our land” (Cant 2:12).

For the babbling of the brook and the lapping of the Great Lake,

asleep so long, now risen from the dead

to sing the song of Spring.

We thank you for the sun

that calls forth the bloom from the tomb of winter.

Above all we thank you because this is the season

in which you will overcome the dying of Jesus

and have promised to transform all our dying

into the Alleluia of Easter.

So we join the angels and saints....
