HOW TO FIND AND IDENTIFY KM art

With that air of exclusivity common to all fine art galleries, KM art proudly proclaims itself: "Difficult to find, Impossible to park!"

However, at times when the rent is due, we find it expedient to provide some indication of where we are on planet Earth.

KM art is located at 226 South First Street in Milwaukee, on the east (lake) side of First St., between Pittsburgh and Oregon Streets. Just remember that Water St. turns into First St. as you cross the Milwaukee River heading south, and First St. turns into Kinnickinnic Ave. if you have gone too far south. Turn around. Heading north on Kinnikinnic Ave. ("KK" to us locals, although it is great fun to go about clucking "kinnickinnic" "kinnickinnic"...), it turns into First Street, and if you go too far it turns into Water Street.

Hope that clears it up. Meanwhile:

That will have to do for a map.

Burn these images into your retina and you cannot get lost!

This is how KM art looks from the 16 Amtrak trains that pass each day. When you board the train about a half mile from here, just be sure to tell the conductor to let you off at KM art. Be careful on the loose gravel of the steep embankment and jumping off that 12 foot retaining wall! You're not as young as you used to be!

Note the fancy lettering on the windows of our second floor location, hand-cut from newspaper by artist Roy Staab. A new sign has been added to get groovy, check it out, courtesy of Michael Pilmer: KM art sign

This is how we look from the south, during a heatwave, with that ultracool wavy mirage effect...

And again, this time from the north. occupying the left half of the photo about one-third up from the bottom, is the famous "gravel lot full of used Post Office trucks" that you've heard so much about. Obscured by shadow at far right is one of two, count 'em, two abandoned gas stations that face KM art. From this elegant setting, many an artistic jewel has been purchased.

Finally just remember, "Across the street from two abandoned gas stations, next to a gravel lot full of used Post Office vehicles."

If all else fails call 414-226-2272.
