The Green Man greeted you at the door, a floral arrangement from Eden in Milwaukee. Five models from Beauty and Groom Salons, wrapped in cellophane and strips of tabloid newspapers, plied the crowd with trays of fortune cookies. Special thanks to Eden, Tulip Omania, Mark Stys of Doorstep Valet, Daniel Taylor of Taylor's, the models of Beauty and Groom Salons(the other lovelies), The lovelies, DJ 1-F and everyone who helped.
March 18, 2000. More than 1500 people at an art opening in Milwaukee? Unlikely but true.

Jim Brozek shows up early and actually gets a chance to look at the photographs; within an hour the scene on the right was the norm for the night. This view is into the adjoining Hermetic Gallery.

Openings should always be this glamorous! On the right, one of the two Men of The Hour, Jack Eigel (in glasses), and entourage seem to be pleading with the paparazzi --"No more photographs, please!"

On the left, in the gray coat, the other Man of the Hour, Francis Ford. People with children were warned to show up early. On the right, the crowd fills my dingy office, usually the retreat of a few cigarette smokers at most openings.

The crowd rocks out--as far as their elbows will let them--to music by The Lovelies and DJ 1-F. Again these are in the adjoining Hermetic Gallery run by Nicholas Frank.
