Evangelist Chuck Spingola is the star of a fundraising letter from Life Legal Defense Foundation. Rev Chuck is so proud of the letter that he displays it on his website.
The main theme of the four-page letter is that Chuck's preaching saves the lives of the unborn. The letter explains how campus police cruelly twisted Chuck's arm because they could not abide his lifesaving message. Dana Cody of LLDF uses this closing to the letter: "Yours for the defenders of the defenders of life."
The Defenders of the Defenders of Life is the name that extremists used when they issued the Second Defensive Action Statement. In their own words:
"The Second Defensive Action Statement was released by the Defenders of the Defenders of Life after Paul Hill shot the abortionist, John Bayard Britton, and his accomplices, Lt. Col. James Barrett, and Mrs. Barrett. It is modeled on the original Defensive Action Statement which was originally issued by Paul Hill."
Two different Defensive Action Statements are the work of the Army of God and can be seen on its website. The Army of God has sponsored a number of Banquets of the White Rose, to commemorate the work of antiabortion assassins and arsonists.
Chuck Spingola was among the speakers at the White Rose Banquet of 2001. He is quoted in Straight Shooters, an article from the Independant Weekly.
"My wife used to say, 'Honey, do you believe all homosexuals should be put to death?' I said no, dear, you get about a half a dozen of the activists, you kill them, and the rest of them will go back in the closet."
