i like my head better than brick walls
no, i'm not tired of earning blisters on my fingers
just to get your busy signals.
no, i'm not deaf and the eyes work, too.
just because i'm exiled from you
in a remote region of the neighborhood
doesn't mean i'm out of touch.
i've been studying cartography.
no, i'm not this well hungover every morning
but often i can't wake up from an american dream
of right words and guests who are never uninvited.
no i'm not tired of bending over backwards
to touch the earth again - sometimes
i can brush against the sky.
i'm just tired of stalking clues like tracks in the dark.
From the chapbook Frozen Fruit (c)1978 by A.J. Wright and reproduced
as a broadside, letterpress printed on a 7"x 9" self-adhesive
