The picture on the right is me as a child of the
70’s. I’ve spent all my life in the town where I was born.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially when you live in Wisconsin.
I have a large extended family here. My work involves selling utility equipment
to the local power company, but my real passion is spinning wool into yarn,
knitting and sewing.
I have an Ashford Traveller spinning wheel, which
was a present from my Hubby 2 years ago. Last year's present was a drum
carder to make more yarn. I get the fiber to spin from many places and in
many forms. My favorite would be right off the sheep, as fleece. I can take
a dirty fleece and wash it and card it and spin it into yarn. We also dye
it into different colors. Alex is better at dyeing colors than I am, so
I let him dye.
We also spend a lot of our time during the summer camping and canoeing. I've learned to actually spin wool in a canoe! It involves using a drop spindle and having a lot of balance.
