There is no entry for John Dake, but rather a John Deg and John Teg. The conclusion that John Dake is Johan Deg or Teg is supported in two ways. First of all John Deg is listed as the godparent to Peter Haller and Magdalena¦s child. John Dake, Sr. had a daughter named Magdalena who married Peter Haller and it is a usual custom that godparents are family members. Second, the conclusion is supported by the names of the children. Both John Dake, Sr. and John Dake, Jr. are represented in the Zion-Pine church. The names of their children are found. I have listed all of the entries that might possibly apply. Almost all of the entries can be linked to John Dake, Sr. and John Dake, Jr. with the exception of two; an entry for Friedrich Deg and an entry at the Solomon Church for Johannes Dege. These two entries do not fit the information that we know of John Dake. We simply do not know of a Friedrich related to John Dake, Sr. for this time frame and the Solomon church entry for Johannes Dege provides for an extra John Dake born to John Dake, Sr. with a birth date that is too close to the birth of Barbara Dake. I have typed the entries as they appear in Klaus Wust's books the page numbers refer to the pages of the original church records.
