Analysis of and notes on Harrison Dake's Memoirs ========================= Lula Mae Bucker's letter: ========================= In Lula Mae Bucker's letter to J.E. Dake she references 1978 in the 4th paragraph. I believe this should be 1987. In the 10th paragraph she wonders if J.E. Dake was related to the Rev. Dake in Atlanta, Georgia who has the Dake Bible Publishing Co. This is a reference to Finis Jennings Dake, Sr. who is a member of the South Carolina Line and no known connection exists between the Virginia and South Carolina Lines at this time. =================== Harrison's Memoirs: =================== Refer to MAP for places referenced on pages: 1, 2, 4 John Dake Sr. referenced as a Hessian Soldier on pages 11 & 14. This is what J.E. Dake [Ref # VA49.0066] based his work on with regard to the origin of John Dake Sr. [Ref # VA44.0001] Page 23, paragraph 1 references Uncle Charlie and aunt Mag. I beleive this is a reference to Charles Edward Larrison and his wife Margaret Ann (Dake) [Ref # VA47.0037IN] Larrison. Margaret was daughter of Benjamin Dake [Ref # VA46.0003IN]. Page 25, paragraph 2 makes reference to the Fansler family and their relationship to the Dake and Bowman families. It also notes that they traveled together from Virginia. Page 38 tells about the Typhoid epidemic and references president William McKinley's death on September 14, 1901. Page 38, paragraph 3 references uncle Addison. This was Addison Fields. He also references brother Albert Dake as having typhoid. Albert apparenty survived as he later married and had children. Page 40, paragraph 4 references Grandma and children Willard, Addison & Ira. This was his mother's family (Fields). Page 54 references President Benjamin Harrison. ====== Notes: ====== Harrison Dake would have been about 17 when his Grandpa, Benjamin died. Much of the Michigan Road referenced in Harrison's Memoirs has been replaced by Interstate 74. This construction may have demolished Harrison's boyhood home site. ================================= Referenced in Harrison's Memoirs: ================================= McKinley, William (1843 - 1901) 25th president of the U.S. (1897 - 1901) Born: Niles, Ohio.
