Book E page 264 This indenture made on the 2nd day of May AD one thousand eight hundred and seventy one by and between Thomas J. Paul Mary E. Paul wife of the said Thomas J. Paul parties of the first part and John J. Dake of the county of Wright in the state of Missouri party of the second part witnesseth that the said parties of the first part in consideration of the sum, of Twelve Hundred Dollars to them paid by the said party of the second part the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged do by these presents grant bargain and sell convey and confirm unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns the following described lots tracts or parcels of land lying being and situate in the county of Wright and State of Missouri to wit: the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter and the southeast quarter of the southwest quarter section four and the northeast quarter of the northwest quarter and the northwest quarter of the northwest quarter section nine all in township twenty eight range twelve containing one hundred and fifty four acres more or less. To have and to hold the prrmises aforesaid with all and singular the rights privileges appurtenances and immunities thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto the said party of the second part and unto his heirs and assigns forever. The said (Thomas J. Paul & Mary E. Paul hereby covenanting that they are lawfully seized of an indefeasible estate in fee in the premises heroin conveyed that they have good right to convey the same that the said promises are free and clear of any encumbrances done or suffered by them or those under whom they claim and that they will warrant and defend the title to the said premises unto the said party of the second part and unto his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims and demands of all persons whoinsoever. Paul and Mary E Paul his wife who are personally known-to me to be the same persons whose names are subscribed to the foregoing instrument of writing as parties thereto and acknowledged the same to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the said Mary E. Paul being by, me first made acquainted with the contents of said instrument upon an examination separate and apart from her husband acknowledged that she executed the same and relinquishes her dower in the real estate therein mentioned freely and without compulsion or undue influence of her said husband.
