and stains provided ample time has been allowed for the wall to dry thoroughly.  the drying period of a masonry will will vary depending on weather conditions and type of masonry construction.  Cavity type wall construction can dry in as little as two weeks in hot weather, where solid reinforced brick wall may take as much as six weeks in cool wet weather.

Water proof materials are to be used to cover the top of all walls during construction to prevent excessive amounts of water entering the wall cavity.  (Never clean masonry when below freezing temperatures are anticipated or projected over-night.

3.  Vanadium salts found in clay can cause green to green-brown stains to develop.  Manganese usually will cause brown oily stains.  Brick susceptible to these mineral stains are gray, light ivory, buff, or brown Specially formulated cleaners are required to remove these stains.
