Automobile Medical Payments

"Automobile Medical Payments" is a required part of automobile insurance in the State of Wisconsin unless it is waived by you in writing. Because the cost is low for this coverage and can be very important in the event of a loss, it is not recommended that you waive this coverage.

"Automobile Medical Payments" is a coverage that provides protection for you and your passengers, regardless of who may be at fault in an accident. This coverage provides for necessary medical and funeral expenses incurred as a result of such an accident.

The limits written may be a little as $1,000 or as high as $25,000.

"Automobile Medical Payments" coverage is designed primarily to take care of immediate, emergency medical treatment which may be necessary following an accident without regard to fault so that such care is not delayed by trying to determine who is responsible for an accident at the scene.

Once immediate medical attention is received and the dollar limit of this coverage is exhausted, further expenses are then paid by the legally liable party under other parts of the automobile insurance policy such as "Automobile Liability" or "Uninsured Motorist Coverage".
