Other Structure Coverage (Coverage B) on the Homeowners Insurance Policy is sometimes referred to as Appurtenant Structures Coverage.
This coverage applies to structures on the property (premises) that are not attached to the main dwelling and the coverages are the same as those that apply to your dwelling.
The most common types of Other Structures are detached garages, tool sheds, gazebos or, in the case of the picture above, a freestanding outhouse.
These Other Structures are usually covered under the base policy for an amount equal to 10% of the amount of coverage on the dwelling itself. So, if you have $100,000 on Coverage A - Dwelling, you would have $10,000 automatic coverage on Other Structures.
If you have multiple detached structures on your property or the 10% limit is not enough to cover the replacement cost of the detached structures this amount can be increased for a small premium.
