SR-22 Filings

While automobile insurance is not required by the State of Wisconsin, financial responsibility is.

If you are involved in a motor vehicle accident, do not have automobile insurance and cannot pay for the damages you cause, your drivers license may be revoked or suspended until you prove to the state you can handle future occurrences with a financial responsibility filing. You may also be required to enter into a payment agreement to pay for any damages you may have caused before your drivers license can be reinstated.

Also, if you are convicted of a major traffic violation such as drunken driving, the state may suspend or revoke your driving privileges until such time as you provide a financial responsibility filing and comply with any other requirements dictated by the court.

This is done with an SR-22 Filing. The SR-22 is Wisconsin's financial responsibility filing. This filing provides evidence to the State of Wisconsin that you carry at least the minimum liability limits required by law (see Automobile Liability).

If you do require the SR-22 Filing chances are the only companies who will write automobile insurance for you are the nonstandard or "High Risk" insurance companies. This coverage can be very expensive when compared to the rates paid by a driver who does not require a filing.

If you do require such a filing, Paschke Insurance Services is set up to provide this service while you wait. What this means is that if you have met all other requirements of the State of Wisconsin we can issue the SR-22 Filing immediately and you can have your license reinstated shortly after leaving our office.
