Dentistry without the needles or the drill!

Introducing the CENTAURI Er:YAG Dental Laser System, the first laser in the U.S. to receive clearance for use in caries removal, cavity preparation and other selected hard tissue procedures.

The Centauri combines today's most advanced solid-state laser technology and fiber optic delivery system into an instrument that not only you, but more importantly, your patients, will love.

Following animal and invitro studies, an extensive three year human trial was conducted at five independent clinical sites* involving over 1,400 teeth. Parameters evaluated included pulpal vitality and histology, surface morphology, caries removal and patient response. In all categories, the Er:YAG was shown to be as effective or superior to conventional treatment.

The ultrashort-pulsed Er:YAG laser has a wavelength of 2.94 um which correlates to the peak absorption of water and hydroxyapatite. This makes the Centauri optimal for working on teeth.

The Er:YAG laser and fiber optic system produce a focused beam of light that rapidly vaporizes water at the surface of the tooth. Enhanced by the water spray, this energy creates an acousto-mechancial wave that impacts the tooth and results in a conservative and precise preparation.

With the Centauri, anesthesia is usually not required. This factor, combined with the absence of vibration and the sound of the drill, results in much less anxiety for the patient.

Using the laser also eliminates the inherent aluminum oxide mess caused by air abrasive units. This makes the Centauri the ideal alternative to both the high speed drill and air abrasive technology.

The fiber optic delivery system and TouchTIP options provide a tactile sense, as well as give you the versatility to work in various areas of the mouth. This, combined with the precise nature of the Er:YAG light, give you maximum control.

Due to its high water content, caries can be slectively removed, while healthy tooth structure is preserved. The Er:YAG also vaporizes bacteria it comes in contact with, effectively quasi-sterilizing the cavity. The three-dimensional nature of the prep created with the laser, along with the laser etching, results in a macro- and micro-retentive surface that is ideal for adhesive dentistry. The bond strength of restorations after laser and acid etching was found to be approximately 50% higher than acid etching alone. The result is a higher quality of treatment.

The Centauri fits on a tabletop or on a mobile cart. The system plugs into a standard 120V dedicated outlet. The unit's cooling system is self-contained, so no special plumbing is required.

Included with the system is a one-day intensive course at one of our Clinical Training Centers. You'll learn the Centauri's simple operating procedures from an experienced clinician as well as see the laser in use on live patients.

Not only will the Centauri raise the level of care you can provide your patients, it will increase your productivity by decreasing chair time. Equally important, it will improve the patient/doctor relationship by decreasing patient anxiety.
