UNIT PLAN

    These activities will fit best into:
Spanish 1: Chapter 1  of Paso a Paso 1 on basic greetings

Spanish 2:  Chapters 6 and 10  Regular and Irregular Preterite   and 
Chapter  12  Irregular Commands of Paso a Paso 2 .

PREPARATION PHASE:

Spanish 1:   The students will use the Paso a Paso 1 textbook, workbooks and video to learn about Greetings and basic information questions. When we are in the computer lab, before they start, I will demonstrate on the overhead where to access the interactive Web pages and how to use them. 

       *** I will have to remind the students that in order to get back to my BASE PAGE after they get into QUIA activities or the BBC activities, they will have to either click the BACK button or use the GO (using Netscape at our school) on the top bar and scroll down to my BASE PAGE!!!

Spanish 2:  The students will use the Paso a Paso 2 textbook, workbooks and video to learn about the Irregular Commands and the Preterite.   When we are in the computer lab, before they start, I will demonstrate on the overhead where to access the interactive Web pages and how to use them.

EXECUTION PHASE: 

In the IMC
Spanish 1:  The students will do the Practices (Look at the Words, and More Words and Phrases Section, Listen and View the video,  Look at the Spain Culture Sections, and take the Practice Quizzes on the video and Culture.

Spanish 2:  Same as above.

EXPANSION PHASE: 
(How will my students demonstrate that they can apply their new knowledge in a broader context?)

Spanish 1:  The students will create, write, memorize and practice a Greeting Dialogue in small groups of 3 or 4 people in the regular classroom.  They will perform it the next day for the class.

Spanish 2:  Same as above but they will either PERFORM the “Day-O” Irregular Command Verb Song with Props they create (poster signs, drawings, costumes).
 Or 
CREATE,  write, memorize and practice a Dialogue using Irregular Commands (Simón Dice or an Exercise Instructor, or a Coach or Mom giving commands…) and perform it for class the next day.
 Or 
PERFORM the “Tequila” Preterite Verb Song with Props they create. 
Or 
CREATE, write, memorize and practice a Dialogue using Regular and Irregular Preterite 
(Police or talk show host interviewing… “Where did you go yesterday?”  “What did you do?  “What did you bring?”  “Who did you see?” “What did you say?”….)

For the PERFORMANCE expansion activity dialogues  or songs I will create a RUBRIC based on:
Presentation, Pronunciation, Spelling and Grammar usage.

ASSESSMENT

The above Video Clips are located on the Spanish Video Clips page.
   The ASSESSMENTS for each can be accessed by clicking on the button below each photo.
  These are ON-LINE interactive quizzes created through  http://www.quia.com .
  The teacher can log-in to their "Activity Manager" which has all of the games and quizzes  that they have created using Quia.

   The teacher can create a "SESSION" with the quiz. 
(I set up "SESSIONS" for these Video Clip Quizzes!) 
Each student will have to "log-on" with the "session name" and his "name". This allows the teacher to view the STATISTICS of the students'  quiz results.

    Or the teacher can have the student take the quiz without a "session" as a "self-quiz" as I have set up on my "tutorials" page.
