The Rabbi started with three rounds of Hearts. John R. ruffed with the ª 10 and Sydney reached into his hand for the Jack and produced the King. The King? Yes, the King. Put yourself in John R.'s shoes. Wouldn't you now play the Ace and Queen of Spades trying to drop the Jack on your left.
