The equipment used to take the micro-photographs used in my home page cost me nothing. If you go looking for this equipment plan on spending ten ($10) dollars or less, as what I use is old motion picture projector lens mounted in a reversing lens application. Just think of the projected image size achieved from the 8mm or 16mm film. Now if you put your subject where the film was and let your 35mm camera lens and film be the screen, you can take micro-photographs.


You can mount the projection lens several different ways:


The colored crystal photographs were made using chemicals that exhibit double light refaction (birefringency), when illuminated with polarized light and photographed using a polarizing filter.


The frost photographs used polarized light and a polarizing filter to mask the background.
