To use this calculator,all you have to do is line up the film speed and f-stop, you are using, flip the calculator over and find the lighting condition you are exposing and then swing the pointer over that lighting condition and read the starting shutter speed.
In this case, I set the film speed at 100 and the f-stop at 2.8 and with lighting condition "E", it told me to start shooting a 1/30 second. Lighting condition "E" includes: bright nightclub, display window, ice show - floodlight and other conditions. In all there are a dozen different lighting conditions, each with a various number of listings.
If you are using a Tungsten to Daylight Filter or a Fluorescent to Daylight Filter, you have to adjust the shutter speed accordingly.
