June 19, 2006

President Dale Roethig called the meeting to order at 7:21 pm. Attendance 8.
Secretary Gary Köhler read the minutes of the May meeting.

Discussion

o There was discussion of Microsoft and Bill Gates' money.
o Dale Roethig demonstrated ImgBurn. Ran into media problems and switched to Nero.
o Gary Köhler attempted to fix Quagmeier II. Kevin Cook installed Registry Mechanic and we tried that. Quagmeier still takes 5 minutes to boot--much too long. The consensus is that seldom-used programs need to be uninstalled/deleted. We did not check the hardware tree, however.

The meeting adjourned at 9:15 pm.

April 17, 2006

President Dale Roethig called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm. Attendance 7, 5 later on, 0 much later on.
Secretary Gary Köhler read the minutes of the March meeting.
Elections were held a month late. All officers were retained in their offices by acclamation.

Discussion

o Phil Moughmer's new digital camera, the Nikon D70S, was a source of amazement. The camera does not come with memory or a lens, the reason being that this is a professional camera and the photographer will be the best judge of which lenses and how much memory to use. A professional photographer is likely to already have a collection of lenses, and this camera can use any of the lenses that Nikon has manufactured for the last 30 years or so.
o Phil Moughmer gave a treasurer's report and outlined just how dire the club's finances are.
o Dale Roethig showed several freeware programs available for editing and manipulating DVDs. He also showed Foxit Reader, a fast replacement for Adobe Acrobat Reader.
o The question of which is better, DVD+R or DVD-R came up. The consensus seems to be +R.
o Gary Köhler compared the recent remake of The Ten Commandments with the Cecille B. deMille film. General consensus was disappointment with the remake.
o There was a general discussion of DVDs and recording.

The meeting adjourned at 8:47 pm.

o Dale Roethig demonstrated a Super Cantenna WiFi antenna by attempting to connecting to Dennis Drewek's laptop. We were not successful in trying to get John Schwarzmeier's machine connected.

o Dale Roethig demonstrated Doom 3.

The meeting adjourned at 8:57 pm.
