Some of them are very far out into the future. The finishing touches have been put on a new graphics standard called RTG (Re-Targetable Graphics).

There was further discussion of GenCon, and Dale mentioned that "The Group Formerly Known as MilAtari" would be running their popular MIDI-Maze there. This lead to a brief discussion of "Whatever happened to Atari?"

Secretary Gary Köhler briefly described his plans for taking minutes of the meeting and publishing them in The Monitor and on the Web.

SIG Reports

Game SIG: Dale reported that the March 14th meeting would be spent preparing for LepreCon 3 on the 21st.

Discussion

o Dale spoke of the need to "Nuke Windows" occasionally in order to clear out the "deadwood" that builds up and degrades performance.

o Forthcoming PowerPC boards were described.

o A discussion of the importance of hardware and software standards ensued.
o Gary described how, despite a track record of support for OS/2, Hewlett-Packard no longer packs OS/2 drivers with their printers. Within hours he downloaded the latest driver from IBM's website, so it was not a complete loss.

The meeting was adjourned at about 9 pm.
