SIG Reports

o Game SIG: Setup at Gen Con is scheduled for Wednesday, August 4 from 2 to 9 pm, and tear-down starting at 4 pm on the Sunday the 8th. We are looking for machines with at least Pentium 100, 16 Mb RAM and a network card (or we'll install one). Lucas Arts has granted us permission to run their games, as has SSI in the case of Fighting Steel. We are still waiting for copies of Army Men to come in.

Discussion

o Gary outlined what he called the "personal Y2K problem", concerning filenames that won't sort properly if a two-digit year naming convention is employed. It is a personal problem in the sense that if the sorting of filenames is of no concern, it's not really a problem.
o Dale described the recent demo given at Safe Harbor of the Toaster NT and related software such as Speed Razor (a non-linear editor). Hopefully further details will surface in The Monitor Newsletter.

There was no presentation, although we did get to see Gary's new notebook computer, Kundry. The meeting was adjourned at about 8:35 pm.
