Project About to Begin . . .

Deceiving Old Dawg! (06/30/2006)

History of the Deceiving Old Dawg

Bought this CJ about four years ago from a local. We have to pass a strict emmision test in SE Wisconsin. The cat. converter was gone. I had a entire new exhaust including converter installed. Failed the test. Changed out the bbd for a Weber carb. Failed the test again. Put on the low pressure fuel pump and re-adjusted the float. Passed the test. Installed a 4WD 4 inch spring lift. Went to take the test two years ago and failed. The jeep sat for the next year and a half while we did major home renovations, finished last summer. JEEP TIME! Was having performance problems, electrical and instrument trouble. Decided to replace ignition system, complete wire harness, dash and instruments, also mohair-like carpet. Stripped every wire out of the jeep, including module and computer. Installed DUI ignition and a 4WD complete wire harness. Took it for a 20 mile drive, WOW ran best it ever had. Decided to install dash and wiring after the carpet. Pulled the old carpet and the nightmare began. Holes everywhere, The PO did a pro camo job on hiding all the patch work. Called my bud who was a body man in his younger years. One look and all he said was "JUNK". The project began. Picked up a new glass tub and placed a MEGA order with 4WD. New glass fenders, Chrome rear bumper, chrome nurf bars, all stainless hardware and mounting hardware. OEM steel grill. Got the body off in early Sept. and fell extremely ill. After major abdominal surgery I was bed ridden for about two months. Now I'm doing well and ready to kick some butt on this carcass.
