Visiting Hours: Thursdays 6-9pm Saturdays 11-4
A visit to our shelter is the first step on the agenda. We have a variety of adult cats and kittens to choose from. All of our animals are Feline Immune Virus/Feline Leukemia tested. They are also given distemper booster shots. If an animal is adult we spay and/or neuter them. The animals are kept in cages with each cage having a name tag and brief description about the animal. We try our hardest to find out as much as possible about the animals that come into our shelter. The more informed our volunteers are, the better able they are to help a possible adopter find a good match for their home.
If you are interested in an animal, we require that a Sign-up Sheet be filled out for the particular animal that you are interested in. It is a basic information sheet asking name, address, phone number and about other pets in the household, if any. After the sheet is filled out you will receive a call in a few days from a volunteer asking if you are still interested in the animal. No animals leave the shelter on the same day of the initial visit, unless otherwise coordinated with the Director. We call this period our "cooling off time." This process prevents a lot of impulse animal adoptions. At the time of this telephone call a mutually convenient time will be set up for the volunteer and the new adopter for delivery of the animal. All our adoptions require in-home deliveries so we are able to ease the transition of the animal from the shelter to its new home. When that time comes, an Adoption Contract with supporting materials and information about cats and/or kittens will be delivered along with the animal. Our adoption fee is $65.00 for one cat; $100.00 for two and $85 for dogs. We have a two-week health policy for the animal which requires the following: If the animal became sick and/or needed medical attention, you are given a phone number to call so we are able to assess the situation. If medicine is needed for the care of the animal we obtain that for the new adopter, free of charge. We do not knowingly adopt out animals that may be sick! We also have a lifetime guarantee for our Happy Endings animals. If for any reason during the lifetime of the animal it MUST be returned, we would want that animal coming back to our shelter for a second chance at life.
