June 1996 to present: SPSS, Inc.

Wrote both software-oriented and statistics-oriented material for manuals and online help system to document SPSS, Trial Run, and AnswerTree statistical software packages. Participated in planning of new versions of SPSS and other SPSS products. Wrote VB scripts to add VRML output functionality to SPSS for Windows. Wrote a book on data mining for SPSS customers and the general public.

June 1994 to June 1996: Research Design and Statistics Unit (UW Medical School)

Conducted complex statistical analyses of survey and medical record data to investigate provider influences on cancer prevention behavior, and prepared manuscripts to present the results. Provided consulting to Medical and Nursing faculty. Designed and implemented on-line computer resources for the Unit. Provided system administration for the Unit's two Sun workstations, as well as routine administration for the Unit's Macintosh and PC computers.

September 1993 to June 1994: Medical Illustration (UW Medical School)

Performed as an Information Processing Consultant for the University of Wisconsin Medical School and supervised Computer Slide Imaging Service. Made software purchase recommendations to the department, as well as to faculty across the UW campus. Assisted faculty in proper use of software programs. Helped design new billing/accounting database using FoxPro/Mac.

August 1991 to August 1993: Department of Psychology (University of Wisconsin)

Conducted research on sensory encoding of vowel sounds in the laboratory of Professor Keith Kluender. Designed experiments, generated high-quality digital audio stimuli, tested subjects, and analyzed and summarized data for formal research reports. Also used advanced mathematical and neural network methods to model classification of speech sounds.

August 1992 to August 1993: Department of Psychology (University of Wisconsin)

Performed as a Teaching Assistant for an undergraduate statistics course. Met weekly with students to lecture, lead discussions, and provide individual and group tutoring and review. Conducted and graded course exams.

June 1990 to August 1991: School of Education (University of Kansas)

Managed the undergraduate admissions office for the School of Education. Reviewed applications for admission to teacher education programs. Designed computer database systems in dBase (PC) and 4th Dimension (Mac) to manage students' admission applications and other records. Also, conducted broad-scale institutional analyses of application data for comparison with other departments and peer institutions.
