WHO WE ARE:

Himmel & Wilson is a consulting firm that helps all types of libraries with their planning, technology, management, and building needs. Our two partners and full-time consultants, Ethel Himmel and Bill Wilson, have completed nearly 200 projects with libraries, library systems, and state library agencies in thirty-four states since our start-up in 1987. Himmel & Wilson has its offices in an historic craftsman-style structure in Milton, Wisconsin. Ethel Himmel and Bill Wilson are the authors of Planning for Results: A Library Transformation Process, published by the American Library Association (ALA) in 1998 and of The Functions and Roles of State Library Agencies published by ALA in 2000.

ETHEL HIMMEL

Ethel has been consulting full-time since 1991. Her Bachelor's degree in Political Science is from the University of Illinois and her Master's degree in Library Science is from the University of Wisconsin. Ethel's Ph.D. in Library Science is also from UW. Before returning to the University to attain her doctorate, she served as the Deputy Director of the La Crosse (WI) Public Library.

BILL WILSON

Bill started consulting part-time in 1987 and has been a full-time consultant since 1996.  Before assuming his career as a full-time consultant Bill served as Wisconsin's State Librarian. Bill's Bachelor's degree is from Gordon College (MA) and his Master's degree in Library Science is from S.U.N.Y-Buffalo. Bill has completed additional graduate work at the University of Wisconsin - Madison in Library Science and Urban and Regional Planning.
