General Information

This page will be the distribution center for news and info on the Comics Archives. It will be updated periodically to keep you informed regarding the status and future of this site.

August 25, 1999 -This is the tenth formal update of this site. The last update was August 25th, 1998. The Comics Archives is 3years old today.

The site is averaging over 110 hits a day and more. Thanks to everyone that has chipped in so far! This is the current state of affairs since the last update:

The major change in the past year is that the Archives has split into two sites: The Comics Archives and the Comics Archives II. The original site is at the tradition URL:

http://www.execpc.com/~icicle/main.html

while the new site is located at:

http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Corridor/6680/main2.html

The original Comics Archives will continue to host Golden Age material and will be the site of continued expansion in that direction over the next year. Teh Comics Archives II will house the Silver Age files and other material and will continue to be available for that purpose.

The JSA Fact File - The JSA Fact File is 100% online. This file serves as the preimer source of JSA information on the Internet today. In the past year, many changes have been made including revisions of several character biographies. Significant revisions include Johnny Thunder and Hourman.

The Golden Age Checklist - As regular visitors may have noticed, this area has been the source of extensive updates over the past year. The JSA entries in particular has been the focus of the updates and most are complete or nearly so. With the exceptions of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, the JSA files are over 90% complete. Many of the Quality heroes also have large portions of their indexes complete. I project the entire project will be more than 90% complete over the next year.

The Golden Age Villain Checklist - The Golden Age Super-Villain Checklist has begun the conversion to the Golden Age Villain Fact File. This area of the site has been the area of most update in the past year. Full annotated bios and appearance lists are available for the Fiddler, Dr. Togg, the Mist, the Sky Pirate, Dr. Light, the Yellow Wasp, the Light, the Golden Age Scarecrow, the Icicle, the Gambler, Degaton,  Brain Wave, the Wizard, the Monocle, the Rag Doll, The Thorn and  the Golden Age Star Sapphire. On deck are the Sportsmaster, the Huntress, the Ultra-Humanite, the Fool and the Harlequin. Ultimatelty, geenral super-villain history, organization information, etc. will be included.

And that's it! The Comics Archives continues to press forward to be the best source of Golden Age information on DC comics. Feedback is always welcome since this site, ultimately, is for it's visitors. Service to those visitors continues to be the Archives greatest reward.
