Membership meetings are held the first Monday of each month (except December).

A NOTE ABOUT MEETING LOCATIONS:

The Irish Cultural and Heritage Center (ICHC) is located at 2133 West Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Milwaukee, housed in the historic former Grand Avenue Congregational Church. Parking is available for evening programs in the two lots just south of the alley behind the building, accessible via 23^rd street. The ICHC is also home to the Irish Emigration Library, sponsored by the Irish Genealogical Society of Wisconsin. Visit the ICHC web site for more information

The Shorewood Public Library is located at 3920 N. Murray Ave.Shorewood WI 53211, one block south of Capitol Drive and three blocks east of Oakland Avenue in Shorewood. Programs will be held in the lower level meeting room. Parking will be available behind the building, accessible via Frederick Avenue. Tracing Your Ulster-Irish Ancestors - Paul Milner

(Rescheduled from March) -- Professional genealogist and lecturer Paul Milner will help us understand the origins of the Ulster-Irish and their settlement in Ireland. Learn when and why they migrated to North America and what records they generated in the process that can assist in research. A native of northern England, Paul Milner has specialized in British Isles genealogical research for the past 18 years. He also holds a degree in Theology and is particularly knowledgeable about the church and its role in record keeping. As a genealogist he speaks on a variety of topics relating to research in the British Isles, the U.S. and research methodology.

Digital Photo Restoration - Tom Collins

IGSW member Tom Collins, who has his own photo restoration business, will demonstrate how old, faded and damaged photographs can be brought back to life using digital technology. Tom will discuss how torn photographs can be repaired and missing pieces recreated, how images can be enhanced to bring out lost details, how black and white images can be colorized, and how subjects can even be added, removed or rearranged. Some restoration techniques will be demonstrated in real time on a computer. And examples of "before" and "after" photographs will be shown and the techniques used to achieve the results explained. Attendees are encouraged to bring in their own photos for evaluation and advice, and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers.

Library programs are free and open to the public.
