In my humble opinion, the answer is yes.
Starting with the initial signup, during which my wife's first "Account Executive", Jordan Levin, told her that in order to obtain her MCSE, she would NEED "lab access" (list price: $1500.00 USD.)
He told her that she could call him first to reserve the lab, "then come in and use it any time you want". He also listed the hours that they were open.
Jordan did NOT tell her that the labs must be reserved a week in advance, or that these labs were (I hear from several people who took the same courses that she did) NOT actual computer labs [2] but rather, a CD that pushes powerpoint-style slides onto your screen and asks questions.
Jordan did not tell her that as far as giving you a place to actually gain experience using, configuring and administrating Windows NT 4.0, the "labs" were useless.
The "6 Month Lab Access" (meaning any time within 6 months as long as you book it a week in advance and don't require a real computer lab) was invoiced at $1000.00. Yes, that's One-Thousand-Dollars after discount to watch Powerpoint slides. I would like to take this opportunity to once again offer my services to anyone who thinks this a good deal. I'll make Powerpoint slides all day every day for as long as you want, for ten dollars apiece (100 slide minimum.)
| [2] A "lab", in the parlance or just about every other educational institution on the planet, is a physical location containing the materials and equipment necessary to experiment with or research the topic at hand. In New Horizons' view, a lab is a CD in a CD tray. |
