Who are we?

Long answer:

• I've been using computers for Word Processing, Graphics, Accounting, Desktop Publishing, and the Internet for nearly a decade. I hold an A+ certification from CompTIA, have built several computers, established a working network domain in my computer lab, installed & configured about a dozen operating systems (starting with DOS 3.2) and countless applications. I logged onto my first bulletin board using an 8088 with 640k, a 20 meg HD and a 2400bps modem. I have been Internet active since 1993, back when the Internet looked a lot more like a bunch of loose text than pretty pictures and flashing ads.

• My wife has a B.S. in education from the University of Wisconsin, and has received certification to teach secondary education in the State of Wisconsin. She has been working in the computer field for over eight years, the last six as a software trainer who travels the country installing & configuring software and training end users.

Just bragging? No, not really. The things my wife and I do know about computers, software, and operating systems are still far outweighed by things that we don't know. Such is the world of high technology, and we don't pretend to be experts on things which are outside of our realm of experience. I'm just trying to establish that neither of us are afraid of or confused by these machines or the software that makes them work.

In other words, we're reasonably intelligent and experienced people who do have the capacity for learning, not clue-proof newbies who would never be satisfied with any teaching because it would bounce off of our skulls, unable to penetrate.
