On Evolution

Are Mutations Harmful?

This essay from 1999 is a collaboration with Richard Harter.    Richard was writing a piece for the talk.origins archive on mutations and asked for information.    I sent him a short piece on the type of studies of mutation and natural selection that have been done in the sort of continuous culture and semicontinuous culture systems that I work with.    He incorporated my letter into his piece.

Observed Instances of Speciation

This is a 1995 revision of a review that I wrote in 1993 for the talk.origins archive.    In it I reviewed and discussed instances from the primary literature where speciation had been observed.

Review of Data on Evolutionary Arms Races in Predator-prey Systems

This is a review that I wrote in 1995 for a proposal that didn't get funded.   Oh well...
