Kathy Arcisewski led the meeting. The group discussed the issue of whether individuals who had not previously attended GONA meetings should be able to vote in the election for president to be held tonight. The group decided that those individuals could vote in the election.
Term length for board members. The ballot asks individuals to choose either a six-month or one-year term for board members. Bob Thierfelder, chairperson of the by-laws committee, noted that the by-laws committee might alter the term as the by-laws are formed (for example, if the by-laws committee determines that the term runs until January, the term for the new board may be thirteen months).
Kathy Arcisewski reviewed the mission statement:
An organization of residents of Greendale original homes for the purpose of education, representation, service, promotion, and preservation of our historic neighborhood.
The candidates for president (Jack Anderson, Jeff Birmingham, and Margo Kuehn) each gave a brief introduction.
The election was held. Individuals were handed paper ballots on which they could check one of the three presidential candidates, and then check for either a six-month or one-year term for board members. When completed, ballots were placed in a box and Terri Knudson and Cathy Loomis tabulated the results.
Election results: Jeff Birmingham received the most votes and was elected as president of GONA. The majority also endorsed a one-year term for board members.
New board: Jeff Birmingham: President Margo Kuehn: Vice-President Terri Knudson: Treasurer Cathy Loomis: Secretary Jack Anderson: Board Member-at-Large

Bob Thierfelder, new chairman of the by-laws committee introduced himself. He has experience writing by-laws for the South Milwaukee Municipal Band and another organization. Al Emmons volunteered to be on the by-laws committee and suggested we examine by-laws from other organizations (e.g., he has one from Overlook Farms).
Kathy Arcisewski proposed it be written in the by-laws that only those living in Greendale originals may participate on the board. Those who live outside this area can be included as "Friends of GONA".
Joe Russ reviewed the work he has done creating the GONA website. The website contains pictures of the neighborhood, meeting minutes, and
announcements about organization activities, and links to other Greendale sites and other Greenbelt communities. Contact Joe
if you have additional pictures of Greendale originals that you would like posted, or we could alternate different areas of Greendale. Please
visit the site at:

Margo Kuehn gave information on her cookies.
The group discussed additional ideas for GONA. These included:
Next month, please bring your recommendations for service people (e.g., contractors, plumbers, day care providers, etc.). For those who work on our homes, we would like individuals who are knowledgeable about Greendale originals and have experience working with original homes. We will then ask these individuals to participate in a home show.
Next meeting to be announced once space is reserved.
Respectfully Submitted,
Cathy Loomis
Secretary
