Layouts Hosting Operating Sessions

Operating sessions will be held on the following railroads on Friday evening of the convention:

UP train
Bob Frey's UP & Western
A 30' x 40' HO layout featuring Digitrax DCC and computer generated switchlists. Radios are provided for communication with the dispatcher.
B&M power
Ted Lewtas' Boston & Maine
HO layout of a New Hampshire branch line set in the earl 1950s. The 20' x 12' layout features hand-laid code 70 track and numerous scratch-built structures of prototypes from all over the B&M. A two-man crew operates freight and passenger trains with car forwarding by hand-typed switch lists. Photo by Mike Ziegler.
Lac du Flambeau Mine
Paul Podlaski's Lac du Flambeau Central
A compact HO freelanced railroad set in northern Wisconsin. It is fully scenicted and features many kitbashed structures. Operation is with computer generated switch lists and Lenz DCC. A great railroad to operate if you enjoy the excitement of thru trains with heavy industrial switching. Photo by Mike Ziegler.
Midwest Lines Rolf Platcher's Midwest Lines
An HO freelanced railroad between Denver and Kansas City. The fully sceniced layout features motive power from the UP, RI, and CB&Q. It uses Lenz DCC and computerized switchlists with radios provided for communication with the dispatcher.
GN Kalispell Division Don Strike's GN Kalispell Division
A double-deck HO layout with a 450' mainline between Havre, Mont., and Spokane, Wash., in the steam and diesel era. Uses Dynatrol command control and waybills for car forwarding.
Conowingo Central Railroad Mike Ziegler's Conowingo Central
A freelanced HO layout running from the shores of the Chesapeake Bay to the coal fields of Pennsylvania in 1958. The layout uses Lenz DCC and computerized switchlists and features through trains, way freights, coal drags and mixed trains. The layout also includes some structures by the late Art Curren.
Milwaukee N Southeastern Club Milwaukee "N" Southeastern
This N scale 40' by 17' club layout features passenger, intermodal and wayfreight operation. Block control is used for operation on a double-track mainline.
NAPM Club North American Prototype Modelers
This huge HO club layout was featured in the March 2003 issue of Model Railroader.
The layout features 26 scales miles of track and is operated with DCC.
