Like any other outdoor activity, mountain biking relies on the weather. Although weather conditions can change rapidly, the following sites should help when planning your next trip to the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest.

TRAIL MAINTENANCE INFORMATION

Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest (March 1, 2008) The Wisconsin Off-Road Bicycling Association (WORBA) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invite all mountain bikers and trail users to take part in volunteer trail work days.

Our focus will be on the John Muir.

Tools will be provided; however, volunteers are encouraged to bring their own work gloves and water. If you have any questions, or want more information, contact Mike Bettinger (LaGrange General Store), at (262) 495-8600, Dave Mangan
(e-mail) or James Wamser (e-mail)

We continue to improve the trail system by applying skills and techniques learned from the IMBA Trail Care Crew, along with the book Building Better Trails, a 72-page trailbuilding manual. Drawing on the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crews experience building and maintaining trails around the globe, Building Better Trails gives step-by-step instructions for trail layout, construction and maintenance. This book also provides trailbuilding resources, and includes a section on building technical, challenging trails that are environmentally sustainable.
