I'm searching for more Pen Pen photos. Pen Pen is still one of my favorite costumes. I made it in three days in 1997 right before I went to Otakon. The inspiration for it was a combination of my love of penguins, the fact I couldn't wear high-heels due to tendonitis in my left ankle (AKA no cheesecake costumes) and the fact that I had a week to do it in. It is constructed from fabric, ½ inch foam, florist wires (for shape) and fabric paint.

I was aware of the heating problem a polar fleece costume can create. The penguin "ass flap" is my entrance and exit so that putting the costume on or taking it off only takes 3 minutes.

Oh, and when I wear Pen Pen I like to swear. I can't explain it.
