It was Katsucon 5, 1999, and Besh and I had run ourselves ragged working guest relations. Brad was working, but only technically. We love the Brad enough not to give him real responsibility. So on Saturday evening Toshi, Trish, Brad, Besh, and I announced it was pajama party time. We're hip, we're swank, we can damned well make the scene wearing our pj's, socks, and clutching our alcohol receptacles. The party scene was slow, and we weren't feeling all that social. We retired to Trish and Toshi's room and amused ourselves by talking, taking photos and, yes, drinking.

I blame Richard Kim for what happened next. As I have mentioned we had started getting goofy. Brad put on his drinking helmet. We drank some more. Besh posed for pictures holding Trish's Barbie doll. And then we remembered Richard Kim's all-too generous comment to guests; "Katsucon will take care of your room service bill. Feel free to order some food, maybe even a movie."

Well Katsucon wasn't paying Besh and me for our toils (or Brad, but I think we've already established his level of responsibility). So we decided it was time (probably around 4am) to order food and a movie.

So we ordered five breakfasts and one porn. Despite a rough start when Trish hid in the bathroom, embarrassed by the idea that the room service guy would take note of our porn consumption, fun was had by all. We learned that there are breakfast foods that complement porn and those that do not (re; greasy sausages). We were reminded that not all-artificial breasts are not necessarily concentric, matching, or even pleasing to the eye. And lastly we learned that as Brad ate all of our scraps by the glowing beacon of the flicking porno, he was the happiest he'd been all con.
