The G&T Student / The G&T Parent

A gifted student is one who possesses exceptional ability and/or potential ability in any of the following areas:           

Ø      General intellectual ability

Ø      Specific academic ability

Ø      Creative or productive thinking

Ø      Leadership ability

Ø      Visual and performing arts

There are several ways that students are nominated for the G/T program.  These include the following:

Ø      Teacher recommend

Ø      Parent recommend

Ø      Specialist nomination (School Psychologist or Reading Specialist)

Ø      Standardized test scores

Ø      Portfolio of exceptional products or performances

Ø      Peer nomination

Ø      Self nomination

All of the above supported by systematic and comprehensive record keeping and communication to parents and teachers.
